NATIONAL HOLIDAYS 2016 : RAILWAY WORK SCHEDULE

South Western Railway announced work schedule of PRS Centers on Certain National holidays in 2016 over South Western Railway. Passenger Reservation System observe single shift working in those particular days. Single Shift timings are from 08.00 hrs to 14.00 hrs only on the National Holidays mentioned below during the year 2016.

Holidays of 2016 is already declared. Holiday to be observed by Central Government Offices in 2016 is also published. Holidays are of two categories, Compulsory holidays and Restricted holidays. All the central government offices should observe Compulsory holidays.  In addition, each employee will also be allowed to avail himself / herself of any two holidays to be chosen by him/ her out of the list of Restricted Holidays

The final list applicable uniformly to all Central Government offices within the concerned State shall be notified according and no change can be carried out thereafter. It is also clarified that change is permissible in regard to festivals and dates as indicated.

Southern Railway announced Winter Special Trains for Christmas 2015 and New Year 2016 to clear extra rush of passenger during the months of December and January. The Winter Special Super Fast Train is between Chennai Central and Mangalore Junction. The Winter Special Weekly Train is between Rameswaram and Chengalpattu. CHINA TESTS RAIL BASED LONG RANGE INTER CONTINENTAL BALLISTIC MISSILE

LONG RANGE INTER CONTINENTAL BALLISTIC MISSILE : TESTED BY CHINA

This month China tested a new rail car mounted long range missile capable of hitting targets in the US. 

Beijing has been developing rail based missile launchers since 1982, according to declassified CIA documents. The most recent test is a significant milestone for Chinese weapon developers, demonstrating that Beijing is moving forward with deploying the DF-41 on rail cars, in addition to road-mobile launchers, officials told the Free Beacon.

China : New Rail Car mounted long range missile

Military analysts say the mobile basing of missiles is designed to complicate preemptive attacks on nuclear forces. The train carrying the missiles includes missile launch cars, a command car, and other system support rail cars, all disguised as passenger train cars.

The combination of high - speed mobility, launch cars disguised as civilian passenger trains, tunnel protection and secure reloading of missiles, coupled with multiple warheads, makes the system extremely hard to regulate or verify the number of systems.

Beijing’s current warhead stockpile is currently estimated to include around 300 warheads. China is believed to have obtained rail mobile missile technology from Ukraine, which, during the Soviet era, built the SS-24 rail-based ICBM, according to a report by Georgetown University’s Asian Arms Control Project.

China also is developing an extensive rail and tunnel system in central China for the missile train, according to the report.

MUMBAI LOCAL TRAINS :: : LADIES COMPARTMENT : NO SEAT MODIFICATION

SEAT MODIFICATION :: TRIAL RUN SOON : MUMBAI LOCAL 

The Central Railway decided to modify the seating arrangements in the Mumbai Local trains in order to ensure the safety of the Train passengers. And will make the trail run soon of Mumbai Local trains with modified seating arrangement. The new decision is because of the increasing deaths of commuters due to falling off the extra crowded suburban trains in the Mumbai region.

In one rake, all the three seater seats adjacent to the door way have been removed to create extra space for the standing passengers.The modified seating arrangements have been made following instructions of the committee formed by Railway Minister for ensuring passengers safety on suburban trains in Mumbai section.

Trial run of the single rake will be conducted within two to three days and feedback will be collected. Following the modifications, the total passenger capacity of this rake gets enhanced by 336 passengers. No modifications have been done in the motor coaches, ladies compartments, handicapped and luggage compartments.

In each coach Grab handles will be provided after removing three seaters seat adjacent to doorways. So that commuters should not feel discomfort and they can hold the handles while traveling at the time of extra rush during the peak hours.

Lucknow is the capital city of the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. A major metropolitan city of India, also known as city of Nawab's. The population of Lucknow Metropolitan Area is over 50 lakes. The city has 14.24 lakh vehicles, 80 percent of them being two wheeler s and 14 percent cars. The city is witnessing an annual growth of 8.35 percent in vehicular population.

Lucknow Metro Rail Project 

The cost of the project will be Rs.6,928 crore which will be supported by Government of India with Rs.1,300 crore in the form of equity and subordinate debt. The Project will be implemented by Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC), which will be reconstituted into a 50:50 jointly owned company of Government of India and Government of Uttar Pradesh.

Out of the total route length of 22.878 km, elevated route will be 19.438 km while underground route length will be 3.440 km. with total 19 elevated and three underground metro stations. The metro train will ply between Chowdhary Charan Singh Airport and Munshi Pulia.

The project will come under the legal frame work of the Metro Railways (Construction of Works) Act, 1978; the Metro Railways (Operation and Maintenance) Act, 2002; and the Railways Act, 1989, as amended from time to time.

KALKA - SHIMLA :: CHRISTMAS - NEW YEAR TOURIST TRAIN 2015 - 2016

Northern Railway announced twin holiday special trains to cater festival rush. Two holiday special trains started on Friday on Kalka - Shimla rail line to meet the tourist rush, an official said. The additional trains will run to and from daily on the Kalka - Shimla line. These trains would cater to the tourist rush ahead of Christmas and New Year’s eve 2015 - 2016.

Kalka - Shimla : Tourist Train for Christmas - New Year

The Kalka - Shimla rail track was built by the British in 1903 to ferry Europeans to and from this hill town, the erst while summer capital of British India. It was chosen by Unesco as a world heritage site in 2008.

• One of the trains is 14 seater rail that starts from Kalka town at 6.40 am and arrives in Shimla at 11.40 am, the official said. It will start return journey at 2.00 pm from Shimla and reach Kalka at 6.20 pm.
• A 5 coach holiday special train starts journey from Kalka at 7.00 am and arrives in Shimla at 12.10 pm. The train will start return journey at 3.50 pm and reach Kalka at 9.10 pm.

Five trains run to and from on Kalka-Shimla Rail Line. Normally a train takes five hours to complete the journey.
