NATIONAL HOLIDAYS 2016 : RAILWAY WORK SCHEDULE

South Western Railway announced work schedule of PRS Centers on Certain National holidays in 2016 over South Western Railway. Passenger Reservation System observe single shift working in those particular days. Single Shift timings are from 08.00 hrs to 14.00 hrs only on the National Holidays mentioned below during the year 2016.

• Name of the Festival - Idu’l Fitr (Ramzan) - Wednesday - 06-07-2016
• Name of the Festival - Varasiddhi Vinayaka Vrata - Monday - 05-09-2016
• Name of the Festival - Vijayadashami - Tuesday - 11-10-2016

National Holiday details

Holidays of 2016 is already declared. Holiday to be observed by Central Government Offices in 2016 is also published. Holidays are of two categories, Compulsory holidays and Restricted holidays. All the central government offices should observe Compulsory holidays.  In addition, each employee will also be allowed to avail himself / herself of any two holidays to be chosen by him/ her out of the list of Restricted Holidays

Central Government Administrative Offices located outside Delhi / New Delhi shall observe the following holidays compulsorily in addition to three holidays.

In addition to the above 14 Compulsory holidays mentioned, three holidays shall be decided from the list indicated below by the Central Government Employees Welfare Coordination Committee in the State Capitals, if necessary, in consultation with Coordination Committees of other places in the State. The final list applicable uniformly to all Central Government offices within the concerned State shall be notified according and no change can be carried out thereafter. It is also clarified that change is permissible in regard to festivals and dates as indicated.

No substitute holiday should be allowed if any of the festival holidays initially declared subsequently happens to fall on a weekly off or any other non-working day or in the event of more than one festivals falling on the same day.

WINTER SPECIAL TRAINS FOR CHRISTMAS - NEW YEAR 2015 - 2016

CHRISTMAS - NEW YEAR WEEKLY SPECIAL TRAINS 2015 - 2016

Southern Railway announced Winter Special Trains for Christmas 2015 and New Year 2016 to clear extra rush of passenger during the months of December and January. The Winter Special Super Fast Train is between Chennai Central and Mangalore Junction. The Winter Special Weekly Train is between Rameswaram and Chengalpattu. Following are the details of special trains.

Winter Special Trains 2015 

Now various zones of Indian Railway like Central Railway, Northern Railway, Western Railway, Southern Railway, Eastern Railway, East Central Railway, East Cost Railway, North Central Railway, North Eastern Railway, North Frontier Railway, North Western Railway, South Central Railway , South Western Railway, South Eastern Railway, South East Central Railway, West Central Railway, Konkan Railway started to announce Special trains from various destinations of the country as Christmas and New Year Special 2015 - 2016. In this category we can add Winter Special Trains also. 

Train Details

Weekly Winter Special between Gorakhpur - Anand Vihar Terminus

• Train No. 05027 Gorakhpur- Anand Vihar Terminus Weekly Special Train will depart from Gorakhpur at 08.55 p.m. on every Wednesday from 06.01.2016 to 20.01.2016 (03 Trips) to reach Anand Vihar T. at 11.00 a.m. the next day. 
• Train No. 05028 Anand Vihar Terminus -  Gorakhpur Weekly Special Train will depart from Anand Vihar T. at 02.00 p.m. on every Thursday from 07.01.2016 to 21.01.2016 (03 Trips ) to reach Gorakhpur at 05.10 a.m. the next day.

Composition

four AC II Tier, six AC III Tier, four sleeper class and four General Class coaches

Stoppages

Khalilabad, Basti, Gonda, Lucknow and Moradabad stations enroute in both directions.

Super FAST Special between Mumbai CST – Gorakhpur

• Train No. 02597 Gorakhpur– Mumbai CST Weekly Superfast Special train will depart from Gorakhpur on every Saturday from 09.01.2016 to 16.01.2016 (02 Trips) at 08.25 a.m. to reach Mumbai CST at 12.15 p.m. the next day.
• Train No. 02598 Mumbai CST– Gorakhpur Weekly Superfast Special train will depart from Mumbai CST on Sunday from 10.01.2016 to 17.01.2016 (02 Trips) at 02.20 p.m. to reach Gorakhpur at 06.45 p.m. the next day.

Composition

four AC II Tier, six AC III Tier, four sleeper class and four General Class coaches

Stoppages

Weekly AC Express Winter Special Nagpur- Amritsar

• Train No. 02125 Nagpur- Amritsar Weekly A.C. Express Special Train will depart from Nagpur at 05.50 p.m. on every Saturday from 09.01.2016 to 30.01.2016 (04 Trips) to reach Amritsar at 09.05 p.m. the next day. 
• Train No. 02126 Amritsar- Nagpur Weekly A.C. Express Special Train will depart from Amritsar at 04.20 a.m. on every Sunday from 11.01.2016 to 01.02.2016 (04 Trips ) to reach Nagpur at 04.25 a.m. the next day.

Composition

one AC First Class, four AC II Tier and nine AC III Tier coaches

Stoppages

Bhopal, Jhansi, Gwalior, Agra Cant., New Delhi, Ambala, Ludhiana and Jalandhar stations enroute in both directions.

Super fast special trains between Chennai Central – Mangalore Junction

• Train No.06154 Chennai Central – Mangalore Junction super fast special train will leave Chennai Central at 13.30 hrs on 24.12.2015 and reach Mangalore Junction at 06.30 hrs the next day.
• Train No.06155 Mangalore Junction – Chennai Central super fast special train will leave Mangalore Junction at 10.30 hrs on 25.12.2015 and reach Chennai Central at 03.30 hrs the next day.

Composition

AC 2-tier – 3, AC 3-tier – 3, Sleeper Class – 12 and Luggage-cum-brake van – 2 coaches.

Stoppages

Arakkonam, Katpadi, Jolarpettai, Salem, Erode, Tiruppur, Coimbatore, Palakkad, Shoranur, Kuttipuram, Tirur, Kozhikode, Vadakara, Thalassery, Kannur, Payyanur, Kanhangad, Kasaragod and Perambur.

Advance reservations for the trains will commence on 10.12.2015.

Weekly special trains between Rameswaram - Chengalpattu 

• Train No.06140 Rameswaram – Chengalpattu weekly special train will leave Rameswaram at 14.30 hrs on 25.12.2015, 01.01.2016 and 08.01.2016 (Fridays) and reach Chengalpattu at 03.00 hrs the next day.
• Train No.06141 Chengalpattu – Rameswaram weekly special train will leave Chengalpattu at 14.00 hrs on 26.12.2015, 02.01.2016 and 09.01.2016 (Saturdays)  and reach Rameswaram at 02.15 hrs the next day.

Composition

Sleeper Class – 5, Second Class Chair Car – 2, General Second Class – 9 and Luggage-cum-brake van – 2 coaches.

Stoppages

Mandapam, Uchchipuli, Ramanathapuram, Paramakkudi, Manamadurai, Madurai, Dindigul, Tiruchchirappalli, Vriddhachalam, Villupuram and Melmaruvathur.
