SUMMER RUSH 2016 ARRANGEMENTS : NORTHERN RAILWAY
Northern Railway is gearing up to tackle the up coming Holi and Summer Rush of 2016 rolling out its action plan to ensure smooth functioning of reservation counters,complaint free various passenger amenities and to check the malpractices in reservation offices. For smooth functioning of all arrangements, the following steps will be taken during the period.
- The Railway staff shall be posted near windows outside the reservation counters at all locations of the reservation offices during the period of ‘HOLI/SUMMER 2016” and would counter sign the requisition forms after ensuring complete filling of the form, especially the address before it is submitted to the reservation clerk.
- The staff and senior railway officers shall be deputed to supervise all the reservation counters at 07.30 am at all the locations after which they should be posted at their respective nominated positions where they will remain upto 11.30 am on all days including Sundays and holidays.
- Divisional Commercial Manager along with commercial officers would ensure that all reservation counters of all the locations are properly manned and the staff nominated for countersigning the requisition slips and ensure availability of adequate requisition forms at all reservation offices.
- Availability of adequate requisition forms shall be ensured at all reservation offices.
- Sufficient number of Commercial/Vigilance Inspectors and RPF/Police staff would be deputed at reservation offices for keeping surveillance over the activities of touts and anti-social elements and detect various frauds including Travel on Transfer Tickets.
- Squads of Commercial and ticket checking staff/vigilance inspectors would be formed to organize special surprise check to curb the activities of anti-social elements and to organize special checks to detect various frauds like touts, transfer-of-ticket cases.
- Frequent and regular announcements about introduction of special trains, augmentation etc would be made for the information of users so that complete occupancy of such trains is ensured and pressure on regular trains is reduced. Accommodation provided in the special trains and the extra coaches would be fed in the PRS well in time.
- The timings of special trains including their stoppages at various station and extra coaches being attached by different trains would be displayed for information of the users. Suitable advertisements should also be inserted in the newspapers containing information regarding special trains and extra coaches for the users that the passengers plan their journey accordingly.
- All efforts would be made to provide better and improved passenger amenities like cleanliness at stations and in trains, adequate drinking water, illuminated signage and clean and proper waiting halls etc.
- For the convenience of senior citizens, it will be ensured that adequate number of wheel chairs in workable condition is available.
- Drives will be launched to avoid complaints regarding overcharging by coolies.
- Due publicity through press releases to both print and electronic media and loading on the Railway site would be done about the special trains , augmentation, additional stoppages the extra coaches for the public would be done well in advance for passengers to plan their journey.
