Western Railway published that apart from running Special trains for the benefit of passengers, Railway has made special arrangements at Mumbai Central and Bandra Terminals to monitor the rush of passengers during the holiday season from 11/04/15 to 11/05/15. Moreover, to further facilitate passengers and to make their rail travel smoother, officers and staff will be deputed on special monitoring duties to ensure the following arrangements.

- Display of reservation charts an hour before departure of the train.
- Unreserved coaches in the rakes to arrive from the yard in locked/secured condition to prevent antisocial elements from cornering the seats.
- Manning/proper functioning of current reservation counter for last minute reservation/cancellation.
- Proper queuing arrangements for unreserved passengers holding current tickets for nominated important trains and accommodating them in unreserved coaches.
- Proper working of licensed porters to ensure avoidance of overcharging.
- Free Drinking water arrangements including sale of packaged water bottles at stalls.
- Increasing departmental catering arrangements on platforms.
- Proper functioning of assistance booth.
- Proper functioning of the public address system.
- Manning and proper functioning of booking, reservation and enquiry offices.
- Best arrangements to ensure suitable Cleanliness of station premises and trains.

Reservation period for booking Accommodation in Trains will change from 60 days to 120 days from 1st April 2015 onwards. Following are the details.

Indian Ministry of Railway have decided to increase the Advance Reservation Period (ARP) for booking accommodation in trains from 60 days to 120 days (excluding the day of journey).
Accordingly w.e.f. 1st April 2015 the booking in terms from train originating stations will open and remain available for 120 days. For instance, as on 1.4.2015, for trains leaving on 28th July 2015 the reservation can be obtained for journey commencing on all days between 1.4.2015 upto 28.7.2015.
There will, however be no change in the case of certain day time Express trains like Taj Express, Gomti Express, Special trains etc, where lower time limits for advance reservation are at present in force. There will also be no change in the case of the limit of 360 days provide for foreign tourists

Union Railway Minster Mr. Suresh Prabhu presented the Railway Budget 2015 -2016 today. Following are the details of Budget Estimates and Plan Outlay.

Budget Estimates for 2015 - 16
- The intention is to capture increased revenues and ensure appropriate investments so as to de - congest the system and enhance Line-Capacity.
- Passenger earnings growth pegged at 16.7% and target budgeted at Rs. 50,175 crore.
- Freight traffic is pegged at an all time high incremental traffic of 85 million tonnes, anticipating a healthier growth in the core sector of economy; Goods earnings proposed at Rs. 1,21,423 crore which includes rationalization of rates, commodity classification and distance slabs.
- Other coaching and sundries are projected at Rs. 4,612 crore and Rs. 7,318 crore. Gross Traffic Receipts estimated at Rs 1,83,578 crore , a growth of 15.3%.
- Ordinary Working Expenses proposed to grow at 9.6% over RE 2014-15. Traction fuel bill anticipated to shrink further.
- Higher provisions made for safety maintenance and cleanliness. Lease charges, interest component of the current and previous market borrowings, at a growth of 21%.
- Appropriation to Pension Fund proposed at Rs 35,260 crore and appropriation to DRF at Rs 8,100 crore. Appropriation of Rs 7,616 crore proposed to be made to Capital Fund for payment of principal component of lease charges to IRFC.
Plan Outlay 2015 - 16
- Gross Budgetary Support of Rs 40,000 crore for the Railway’s Annual Plan.
- Rs 1,645.60 crore has also been provided as Railway’s share of diesel cess from the Central Road Fund.
- Market borrowing under EBR projected at Rs 17,655 crore, an increase of about 46.5%. Balance Plan outlay includes Rs 17,793 crore from Internal Resources and Rs. 5781 crore from PPP. Significantly, we are allocating large amounts towards Doubling, Traffic Facilities, Electrification and Passenger Amenities.
- Given the huge shelf of project and ensuring proper funds flow for the same with a view to completing them on target, a new financing approach to expand EBR has been projected. This EBR, presently named EBR (Institutional Finance) would be based on institutional investments in railway projects through Railway/ PSUs. This element is projected at Rs 17,136 crore and is aimed at accelerating completion of capacity augmentation projects. Works proposed to be financed through this mode are listed in the Budget documents.
- Plan Outlay is Rs 1,00,011 crore, an increase of 52% over RE 2014-15. It is anticipated that the Plan size will get higher once resources from institutional bodies are formalized during the course of the ensuing financial year.

- Train No. 11053 / 11054 Lokmanya Tilak Terminus - Azamgarh Express:- Train No. 11053 Express will leave Lokmanya Tilak Terminus on every Wed from 17.12.2014 at 16.40 hrs and arrive Azamgarh at 02.15 hrs on third day. Western railways announced new Premium Special trains between Yeshwantpur and Jaipur to avoid extra rush of passengers during the season. Following are the details
- Train no 02695/02696 Yeshwantpur - Jaipur Premium Special Train:- Train No. 02695 Yeshwantpur- Jaipur Premium special train will depart from Yeshwantpur at 11:30 hrs on Thursday and reach Jaipur at 06:35 hrs on third day i.e Saturday. This train will run only for one day i.e Thursday, 11th December, 2014. Train No. 02696 Jaipur – Yeshwantpur Premium special train will depart from Jaipur at 22:15 hrs on Saturday and reach Yeshwantpur at 17:55 hrs on third day i.e Monday. This train will run only for one day i.e Saturday, 13th December, 2014. Stoppages:-at Tumkur, Bellary, Pune, Surat, and Ajmer station in both directions.
